Stephen Dunn's Thoroughbreds "get it dunn" with US Chia Seeds

Stephen D. Dunn, a Thoroughbred trainer based in the Midwest, first started using US Chia Seeds in the diets of 4 competitive racehorses in the fall of 2013. Since then, he’s “never found a seed left in the bottom of the bucket.”

As we know, numbers certainly don’t lie. Since he started feeding US Chia Seeds in November 2013, Dunn’s horses have produced exceptional performances. These were the outstanding results after the horses were fed US Chia Seeds:

Aside from improved race results, Dunn has noticed the benefits of US Chia Seeds on the physicality of his horses. He noticed a change in appetite and even more of a change in the energetic disposition and enhanced attitudes. “I noticed the horses getting a little better from race to race, and maintaining their energy levels in between. Without a doubt, I saw an overall difference in all of my horses and their heartiness.”

With the addition of US Chia Seeds, the horses were able to preserve more of their weight between races and cut the recovery times in half allowing Dunn to enter the horses in races three weeks apart, rather than six. “It wasn’t just their coat and feet, US Chia Seeds seemed to benefit the horses in an overall way, which I liked compared to ground flax. It gave me more bang for my buck. I’ve been feeding ground flax seed for 24 years. When the horses get to race level, US Chia is the next step up. It was the extra octane they needed at that level.”

As Stephen Dunn now knows, there are a multitude of benefits to feedings US Chia Seeds. “When a horse is at peak physical condition and performing a high-level, whether it’s $10,000 horse or a Kentucky Derby horse, their needs change. Their electrolyte replacement needs attention.” US Chia Seeds are packed with essential nutrients and protein, contain anti-inflammatory properties, may prevent colic or ulcers and help keep retain hydration and electrolytes. Dunn agrees that these qualities are beneficial for any horse “US Chia Seeds would be great for hunter jumpers, too. Not just race horses.”

Here at US Chia, we’re an ambitious new company that is passionate about our products and our customers. Dunn says, “Working with Zack and the folks at US Chia is great. They are customer focused and care about the quality of their products.” With the experience and success he has had with US Chia Seeds, Stephen Dunn intends to continue using the products in the development of his racehorses. “It’s a great addition to our total training and feeding program and something I plan to keep all my runners on going forward.”
