US Chia Welcomes 2 New Team Members

US Chia is excited to introduce two new additional members of the team. Claire Spalding and Megan Devine have been brought on to assist with marketing and product development. Both are current students of the University of Louisville in the Equine Industry Program , and will be earning their degrees this upcoming May.

Claire Spalding and Trip

A native of Kentucky, Claire Spalding has been an avid equestrian for the last 12 years, participating in the disciplines of Hunter Jumper, Saddleseat, Western and Eventing. Claire predominantly focused on Eventing with her own former horses Trip and Smoke, she has worked as a wrangler on a Colorado dude ranch, and has also been an equestrian counselor at  YMCA Camp Piomingo for 5 years. Most recently, she rode and served as President of the University of Louisville Hunt Seat Team. Currently, Claire is studying abroad in Germany and is working with us from her location in Europe.

When asked to describe something unique about herself, Claire said, “I am basically an old person. I love cats, going to bed early, and I already have arthritis.”

Megan Devine and Ranger

Megan Devine began her riding career at the age of 7 in her home state of New York. She has ridden primarily Hunter Jumper, although as of recently has taken up Reining and Showmanship while riding with the University of Louisville Equestrian Teams. In addition to being a member of both the Hunt seat and Western teams, she is also the President of the University’s Riding and Racing Club. When not competing, you can find Megan working with a variety of organizations like NBC Sports and helping with retired thoroughbreds at the Maker’s Mark Secretariat Center.

When asked something interesting about herself, Megan said, “I'm terrified of heights, spiders and rotting vegetables that grow alien limbs--onions and potatoes are the worst!”
